Toyo Ink Mfg. has developed an edible ink that is made of natural coloring from plants and resin from the shells of crustaceans mixed with water or ethanol. It is approved as a food additive. There are edible ink products but this is the first ink that can be used for non-contact printing with an inkjet printer.
