For the last five years or more, we've been bombarded with the notion that voice over IP was going to be THE revolution in networking. It was going to change infrastructure, topple incumbents, revolutionize public communications ... you get the drift. Well, not much infrastructure has changed, the incumbents still seem pretty well entrenched, and public communications seems more affected by wireless than by IP.
