United Nations sanctions on Iraq have cost Jordan dearly. Controls on the Jordanian border have been tightened up, but that has only led to leakage elsewhere. Peter Feuilherade reports on how Jordan is paying for the Iraqi impasse.
OVER TWO AND A HALF years of international sanctions against Iraq since its invasion of Kuwait in 1990 have inflicted losses of at least $547 million on Jordan's revenues from port and cargo handling and transport, according to the Jordanian Shipping Agents Association.
