INLAND EMPIRE OVERVIEW

The Inland Empire Region is located at the southern corner of California and has one-fifth of California's total land area. Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties make up the region, which is mostly desert area. Much of the land is owned and managed by the government.

Approximately 71 percent of the Inland Empire is Bureau of Land Management land including The Joshua Tree National Monument, a portion of Death Valley National Monument, and several national forests located in the region. Another 13 percent of the land is devoted to agriculture.
