DALLAS _ In the sizzling `60s, rude, crude muscle cars snarled, burning rubber and spewing raw horsepower.
Today some of those rough old outlaws _ Chevelle Super Sports, GTOs, Mustangs, Camaros and Road Runners _ grace museum floors. Moreover, they've become the unlikely new stars of classic car auctions.
As wealthy middle-aged baby boomers hotly pursue a dwindling supply of the vehicles of their youth, muscle car values are going up 25 percent or more a year.
"We've seen an absolute explosion in the value of these cars," said Richard Sevenoaks, president of Kruse/Leake Auctions. "Some now are like fine art."
