Pols go off-road
Why it should surprise us that state lawbreakers, I mean lawmakers, continue to ignore the will of the voters is beyond me (Oct. 20). This is what happens when one party is allowed to run amok, unchecked and unchallenged.
So what if Rep. Eugene O'Flaherty (D-Chelsea), Rep. Christine Canavan (D-Brockton) and Rep. Lida Harkins (D-Needham) helped to weaken the proposed Melanie's law? We are one of the most lenient states in the nation on matters involving drunk driving laws. It's not their sons or daughters getting killed. Not to mention the millions of dollars withheld by the feds for highway funds in response to such leniency.
