In Futures' third annual search for new trading talent, five CTAs stand out. So far they seem to be beating the old-timers. Is it beginners' luck, or are these trading stars-to-be going to rock our world?
New commodity trading advisors (CTAs) are plentiful, but how many are profitable? Futures' third annual search for new talent found several promising traders. Only five made the all-star list, although others had potential. The Value-Added Monthly Index (VAMI), started at $1,000, showed a cumulative rate of return of 6.86% and a standard deviation of 20.13%. Here are this year's top new traders:
