Hearing Doug Montequin demonstrate his work is a real scream, one worth 95 to 110 decibels. That's almost as loud as a jet engine, and that's how loud he can get.

The voice instructor and therapist for UW Health would be the first to encourage you to have a scream on Halloween. It's good for you, if you do it right. "We all know how to scream," he says, "but it's weaned out of us as we get older," because such loudness is socially unacceptable and typically interpreted as a loss of control.
