PHILADELPHIA -- Three hospitals were recognized at this year's Delaware Valley Healthcare Council's (DVHC) Annual Meeting for their innovations in medication safety. The meeting was held October 19, 2005.
This year's Delaware Valley Medication Safety Award and $5,000 cash prize was awarded to Jeanes Hospital of Temple University Health System. Their program for "Increasing Appropriate Therapy (VTE prophylaxis) for At-Risk Patients by Involvement of Pharmacists in Assessment of Patients for VTE Risk and Initiation of Therapy" was determined to be the most innovative among the 21 programs submitted this year to the Selection Committee.
