Article: New Mexico Governor to Appoint Interim Treasurer Today.

DALLAS -- New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson is expected to select an interim state treasurer today to serve out the unexpired term of Robert Vigil, who resigned his elected post last week before the House could consider impeaching him.

A 19-member bipartisan committee has selected four finalists from the 33 who had applied or been recommended for the interim position.

Richardson called the four finalists "talented, capable financial experts with proven records of leadership and success," and said he would select from the list.

The committee said it considered for finalists only those who would agree not to seek the treasurer's post in the November ...
