With all the interest in minor breeds of farm animals, I thought this could be expanded to include the landscape surrounding the homestead. I propose that we grow trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals just for the fun of it, just like we keep some animals, even though they are not always earning their keep. Some of these plants have very interesting characteristics that make them worth growing even if they are not a food source.
