SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Though California homeowners will soon face substantial cost increases for air conditioning repairs and replacements stemming from impending Federal mandates requiring manufacturers to comply with strict energy efficiency standards, those fortunate enough to have a home warranty may see those contracts gain value, according to the Home Warranty Association of California (HWAC).
Taking a proactive posture, California's home warranty industry has been reviewing the new Federal requirements, known as 13 SEER, which are set to go into effect Jan. 23, 2006.
