Nov. 4--TOKYO -- Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. saw all-time highs in group net profit and sales in the fiscal first half on a solid performance by its core prescription drug business, according to a consolidated earnings report it released Friday.

Takeda said its net profit in the six months to Sept. 30 rose 11.0 percent from a year ago to 181.27 billion yen on sales of 599.84 billion yen, up 5.8 percent.

Group pretax profit increased 1.9 percent to 259.43 billion yen.

Net profit per share came to 204.78 yen, compared with 184.40 yen a year ago.

But the top Japanese drug maker said its operating profit fell 1.7 percent to 2.15 billion yen ...
