Nov. 4--A portrait of Woody Hayes hangs above the crackling fireplace in the men's suit department; another is displayed nearby among the leather jackets, sweaters and trousers.
It's clear that department-store chain Von Maur wants to make friends with the natives when it holds a grand opening for its first Ohio store Saturday at Polaris Fashion Place, in the space that once held Lord & Taylor.
Many of its 175 employees will be stationed at the entrances at 10 a.m. to greet the first 5,000 visitors with red roses and Von Maur's trademark Bavarian chocolate creams.
