Nov. 4--Advanced Power Technology Inc. -- one of Central Oregon's larger employers -- could end up adding jobs after its acquisition by a California company next year, company officials and industry analysts said Thursday.
Irvine, Calif.-based Microsemi Corp. announced Wednesday that it has agreed to acquire APT in a $139 million deal. The acquisition, which would likely eliminate APT's name as the company folds into Microsemi, is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2006.
APT and Microsemi officials said APT's Bend facility can run at a higher capacity than it does today, which would require more workers.
