Nov. 7--When the Roche Colorado plant off 55th Street began making a key epoxide ingredient for the drug company's Tamiflu several years ago, the flu treatment was a little-known product for the pharmaceutical company.

Now Tamiflu has become a household name and the most sought-after drug in the world.

Fears of a global outbreak of influenza virus evolved from the deadly H5N1 bird flu strain has placed unprecedented attention on Tamiflu, which is made and marketed worldwide by Roche Group, the Swiss company that owns the Boulder operation.
