PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), located in East Kalimantan (Borneo) is Indonesia's largest coal mine. Established as an equal-share joint venture between Australia's CRA group and British Petroleum, KPC commenced full-scale coal mining in 1991. Last year, coal output exceeded 7 Mt, and the high quality of product has pressed the company into raising production further this year. Currently, KPC is responsible for around one-third of Indonesia's total coal output.
As of January 1993, KPC owned a total of 38 Komatsu earthmoving machines used in its opencast mining operations. In addition, on-order units include one D475A-2 and three D375A-2 bulldozers. Including the ...
