Floth flotation as a general solid/solid separation process is currently showing growth unparalleled in recent decades. Some exciting innovations are taking place.
The process of froth flotation as a means of separating finely ground minerals from their associated gangue material has been a mainstay of the mining industry for most of this century. In concept, the process is surprisingly simple. It involves chemical treatment in a highly mixed vessel of a finely divided ore in a water pulp to create conditions favourable for the attachment of certain of the mineral particles to air bubbles.
