AN ASTHMA jab has been developed which halves the risk of an attack.
The drug, called Xolair, offers hope to the thousands at risk of dying from the disease each year.
At present, the 10 per cent of sufferers with severe asthma have to rely on high doses of powerful steroids which often fail to control their symptoms.
Unlike these drugs, however, Xolair - which is licensed in the UK from today - does not treat the symptoms but interrupts the chain of events that lead to the attack.
