Ecology Minister Nelly Olin unveiled plans on November 2 to establish a nature reserve in France's southern and Antarctic territories. She indicated that the reserve will extend over more than 600,000 hectares of land and sea without offering any further details. The initiative was initially due to have been unveiled on November 9 on the presentation by Mrs Olin of action plans to the cabinet designed to implement the national biodiversity strategy announced in February 2004.
