Lighten your load with a travois
A travois is an efficient tool for transporting deer or elk quarters. And it couldn't be simpler: two saplings bound together to form a narrow V, with webbing or sticks lashed between to hold a load. It is particularly useful in snowy slush or wet clay, which bogs down wheeled carts, or in swampy areas where it is difficult to keep meat clean.
[1] Cut two 3-inch-diameter, 12-foot-long poles. Bind the smaller ends together near their tips using some nylon cord.
