Alexander McCall Smith had a confession to make Wednesday evening.
He's a serial novelist.
He suffers from the affliction that compelled British author Patrick O'Brian to write some 20 historical novels about the Royal Navy. "Obviously, that was the serious end of this condition, and you may be aware that he is currently dead," McCall Smith said.
But the prognosis seems much sunnier for McCall Smith, the Scottish author of more than 50 books and the creator of four book series, including "The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency," "The Sunday Philosophy Club," "Portuguese Irregular Verbs" and "44 Scotland ...
