A disheveled man sits in my office. He appears very tired. His eyes are bloodshot. He is thin. He is unable to remember a lot of the details of the past several days. He feels very anxious and is unaware that his legs are constantly shaking.
This man is coming off a two-week run of methamphetamine use. His case is hardly unique. People from all walks of life are abusing methamphetamine. Methamphetamine use has increased from about a 4% lifetime prevalence to 5.7% over the past ten years. In the United States, the West has seen the most significant increases.
