After what many thought was its last gasp, the Florence County School District got a new lease on life this week, as residents voted to dig deeper into their pockets to keep school doors open.
But a state panel could still dissolve the district, and advocates for changing the way the state pays for its schools say lawmakers need to heed the lessons of what happened in Florence County or risk more threats to education, from the North Woods to Madison.
