China reports third bird flu outbreak in two days in northeastern province
Shanghai. November 11. INTERFAX-CHINA - The Chinese government reported the country's seventh bird flu outbreak in a month in the northeastern Liaoning province on Thursday, just a day after reporting two other cases in the province.
In the most recently released outbreak, 300 chickens were found dead and 2.506 mln poultry were culled within 3 kilometers of the bird flu sites near Jinzhou city on Sunday. But the China Bird Flu Reference Laboratory just confirmed Thursday the deaths were caused by the deadly H5N1 subtype of the bird flu virus, according to a statement from China's ...
