Peru's mining industry is attracting foreign investment as the country in general strives for stability.
Peru today is embarking on a series of political and economic changes designed to stabilise and reform the economy after years of economic upheaval and civil unrest. Within this context of renewal, the mining sector is a mainstay of the national economy as it accounts for some 12% of the GNP and about half the value of the country's exports.
