Take note, the pendulum officially has swung.
In a league that often seems fanatically picky about how its offenses are doing, one where the rules are consistently tweaked and shaped to increase scoring, it is the league's defensive coaches who are pulling the NFL's playoff wagon.
Of the 15 teams with winning records, nine have coaches in charge with defensive backgrounds. That total includes the teams with the best records in the league - the 8-0 Indianapolis Colts (Tony Dungy) and the 7-2 Cincinnati Bengals (Marvin Lewis).
