The Los Angeles Region is made up of three coastal counties, Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura, located in the Southern part of the state. It is the best known of the regions due to its wide exposure through the film industry and television, and for its numerous visitor attractions.
Los Angeles County, with a population of more than 9-million, carries significant influence statewide. It is also the economic center for the region. Of its 2,611,000 acres, 40 percent of that is government-owned land.
