Nov. 15--WAPAKONETA -- An attorney for an insurance company that paid a claim for fire equipment damaged in a silo explosion that killed two firefighters two years ago said Monday that Hoge Lumber Co. had a poor maintenance record, which contributed to the incident.

Midwest Claims Service attorney Michael Neltner asked the jury for a verdict of $177,000 to pay for damage to a New Bremen fire truck and other equipment. The company holds the insurance policy for the village of New Bremen.
