SYDNEY, Nov 15 Asia Pulse - The Australian dollar closed substantially weaker today having recently hit a 13 month low as investment continued to pour back into the US currency.

At 1700 AEDT the local unit was trading at $US0.7286/90, below yesterday's close of 0.7333/38.

During the day's trade, it reached a high of $US0.7292 and touched a low of 0.7267.

Last night the Australian dollar hit a low of $US0.7264, a level not visited since October 2004.

Commonwealth Bank senior currency strategist Richard Grace said the US currency continued to climb on the prospect of a broadening US-Australian interest rate differential.
