Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE:TXN) (TI), Dallas, has announced that TI's OMAP2420 application processor has been selected for the new NTT DoCoMo's FOMA 902i series 3G handsets to provide advanced multimedia capabilities. Expected to launch later this year, these handsets will represent the first OMAP(TM) 2-based mobile devices on the market. The new FOMA series will harness the processing power of TI's OMAP 2 "All-in-One" entertainment architecture to deliver the latest in 3G mobile entertainment applications, such as 3D gaming, 3+-megapixel cameras, digital camcorders and TV output.
