Q.We have just bought a house in London.
Since we moved in we have found lots of defects we were unaware of before buying.
We had a full structural survey done before we bought, of course, but none of these defects were flagged up then. Is there any action we can take now to put matters right?
A. Like a solicitor, a surveyor has to provide a certain level of service and is liable if he or she doesn't do their job properly. If your survey did not identify major faults with the house and, as a result, you suffer financial loss, you can claim against the surveyor.
