When analog video meets digital graphics, whole new ICs are in the offing
Analog video and digital computer graphics are meshing, triggering the need for a new category of video-graphics ICs: those that freely communicate and translate between the realms of video imagery and computer-generated graphics.
Real-world images coming from such sources as video cameras, disks, and tapes still enter the digital world in analog form. Even after digital manipulation, the images are often displayed on low-cost analog TV screens, or output to analog videotape recorders for low-cost distribution.
