Should you worry about your workers being exposed to beryllium? After all, it s a headline-making occupational health risk:
* News reports estimate as many as 1,000 OSHA inspectors have been exposed to beryllium, although only 265 had been tested by earlier this year for evidence of chronic beryllium disease (CBD), a potentially fatal inflammation of the lungs. At least three inspectors reportedly tested positive for blood abnormalities, according to news reports.
