NEW YORK -- As the nation's ethnic population surges, the untapped potential for sales of hair care products targeted to this segment becomes more evident.
Planograms for African-American hair care are still nonexistent in 40% of mass retail outlets, and the ones that have them offer only an average of a 4-foot section with very limited selection.
While ethnic hair care is a $350 million category, chain drug and other mass retailers are not getting their fair share of the profits.
