Q: My security team is expected to stop would-be intruders before they can do damage. How can we detect intruders earlier to improve our response time?
A: First and foremost, you need to include at least one type of perimeter security measure. Traditionally, the workhorse product has been the surveillance camera, possibly integrated with perimeter lighting, motion detectors and/or some type of "night vision." However, one of the main problems with all these options is their effective range of visibility. The optics in most surveillance cameras simply aren't advanced enough to give you the visible range you require even during the day, much less at night. So ...
