Whatever the reasons - two-worker households trying to make the family ends meet, the ease of flying foods halfway around the world to distant supermarkets and access to labor-saving devices of every description - people (at least those in the industrialized world) are living faster, spending fewer hours at home with their families and even less than that in the kitchen.
