With his earlier original monograph on Iosipos Moisiodax (1725-1800), a leading eighteenth-century humanist and Enlightenment figure in the Balkans, published in Athens in 1985, Professor Kitromelides of Athens University and Director of the Centre of Asia Minor Studies broke new ground in the study of the history of ideas generally and the transmission of the Enlightenment to the Balkans in particular.
