Ken Silverstein ["The Great American Pork Barrel," Report, July] is not the first to document the raiding of our national treasury through congressional earmarks. Two years ago, I issued a staff report about the growing misuse of congressional earmarks, especially as used as internal blackmail to entice members of Congress to vote for questionable appropriations bills.
Your interest in this issue should be applauded. Unfortunately, because of the context in which they are mentioned, your article gives the casual reader the unfair impression that there is something wrong with my son's activities on behalf of the National Parks Conservation Association, a ...
