NEPTUNE SMOKED FISH COMPANY LLC of Salem WI was issued a warning letter on Oct. 17 from FDA's Minneapolis Office as a result of an inspection Sept. 21 and 25, 2005. FDA found serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation. The firm's Hot and Cold Smoked and Dried Fish were found to be adulterated as a result, in that they were prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions whereby they may have been rendered injurious to health. The most significant violations included a HACCP plan for Hot Smoked Fish that lists a critical limit that is not adequate to control Clostridium botulinum growth. In addition, the firm did ...
