You know you should cut back on fat. But where to start? Try the suggestions listed below. Research indicates that the first two are easy changes to make and to stick with.
* Substitute specially processed low-fat foods for your usual fare--skim or 1% milk instead of whole, low-fat cheeses instead of regular, ice milk instead of ice cream, and reduced-fat dressings instead of regular.
* Buy low-fat meats in place of fatty cuts--round and loin instead of chuck or rib cuts.
Once you've mastered those, focus on these harder--but more effective--changes:
* Replace high-fat foods with lower-fat alternatives: chicken instead of beef, ...
