Nov. 19--LEIPSIC -- A judge likely will have the final say on which port authority can represent Putnam County communities after a vote Friday.
The Leipsic-Van Buren Port Authority board unanimously approved asking its legal counsel to file a declaratory judgment action to see whether its port authority, established in September 2001, has the right to exist and act as a port authority. The Putnam County commissioners voted Wednesday to appoint a three-member board for its 1987 port authority, which went 18 years without bylaws.
