The 18th annual Thelonius Monk International Jazz Competition focused on jazz guitar this year, culminating in the finals, on September 19, at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater in Washington, D.C. Norwegian Lage Lund took top honors at the competition, winning himself a $20,000 scholarship. Second place went to Miles Okazaki of Seattle, and third place to David Mooney of New Orleans.
