A community shares its water and air, its schools and roads, its parks and bike paths, its joys and sorrows. We read about births, deaths, marriages, bankruptcies, disasters and personal and political achievements. Among deaths, none is perhaps mourned more than the untimely death of a child. When a child dies, tentacles of grief wrap themselves around our questioning minds and pierce our hearts. That grief can echo through an individual, a couple, a family and a community for years.
