The time that 73-year-old Karamat Hussain wakes up in the morning depends on the time of year.
As a Muslim, he prays every morning just before sun rise and has to be up half an hour earlier so he can go through the ritual of washing his hands, face, elbows and feet.
This is not too bad during the winter - at the moment he gets up 6.15am - but in the summer it is more demanding.
Karamat is a trustee and treasurer of the Voor-ut-Uloom Mosque on St Oswald's Road, a six or seven minute walk away from his Small Heath home.
