In designing a new Jewish Community Center in San Jose, Costa Rica, architect Susana Weisleder of Venezuela sought to bring the feel of Israel to South America. This goal was achieved by adhering to specific design principles as well as through the use of Jerusalem Stone from Israel, which can be found in a variety of innovative applications.

From the beginning, the creators of the project knew that the new Jewish Community Center would be a religious, institutional and cultural center for the Jewish population of Costa Rica's capital city of San Jose and beyond. It was designed according to standards outlined in the Kaballah, and ...
