Nov. 27--ST. LOUIS--Driven by curiosity and devotion, the regulars make their way to the corner of 8th and Clark every day at lunchtime to watch the artless, methodical and--for them--irresistibly fascinating show performed in the dust and rubble of what used to be a ballpark.
Chunk by crumbling chunk, Busch Stadium, the 40-year home of the beloved St. Louis Cardinals, is disappearing before the eyes of the faithful, the rabid and the just plain sad-to-see-the-stadium-go crowd.
Most people who work in downtown St. Louis do not make the lunch-hour pilgrimage to Busch. But for Cardinal fans who hold dear the memories of Bob ...
