Thanksgiving for a Vernon Hills congregation will be a bit belated but welcome nonetheless.
At 5 p.m. Saturday, parishioners at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church on Route 45 in Indian Creek will be celebrating Mass in a new church.
"This has been in the works for at least six years," said the Rev. Joseph Curtis, pastor of the 2,000-household congregation.
