Science isn't popularity contest
David E. Abbale's recent rant against radiometric dating (letters, Nov. 9) provides an opportunity to examine the relationships between different fields of science that make it so hard to discount a particular piece of science that one may oppose, such as evolution.
While few serious scientists have questioned radiometric dating for more than 50 years, let's accept that the assumptions about atomic theory that underlie it are false.
