At this point, virtually every enterprise and a surprisingly large number of individuals have a website. In this issue of The Music Trades, to cite but one example, over 90% of all ads contain a web address. Websites within the music products industry run the gamut from a simple home page with a few photos to highly elaborate productions including streaming video and music and extensive product information. But what do these sites actually accomplish, and how many people visit them? Using some innovative new software, we are able to provide some insights into the scope and activity of the industry's various websites.
